Custom Design Q & A
Q) What materials do you use to create your merchandise?
All of the items that we offer are aluminum (0.025 thickness). Aluminum is very durable with a very long shelf life and it’s what we believe is the highest quality we can offer.
Q) What type of manufacturing process do you use for printing?
Our manufacturing process is what we consider to be state-of-the-art. We utilize a very high photo quality UV ink digital imaging process that is environmentally friendly and offers excellent fade resistance and scratch resistance with the end result resembling a photograph! Additionally, this process has no color limitations and therefore anything can be produced making for lots of fun and new innovative ideas. It’s not the same old; “add your text here…” – Design What You Really Want! Get Creative, We Want You To!
Q) How durable are the signs?
Our ink is UV resistant for up to 5-7 years; aluminum is forever.
Q) Do the signs come with holes so I can hang them or attach them?
You bet they do! What fun would that be if they didn’t? You can see exactly where the holes are when creating your design. And yes, you want to design around the holes.
Q) Do you offer any other sizes than listed on your website?
All of the sizes we offer are listed on our website. However, we are always adding new items to our product line and do plan to add auto and motorcycle frames in the very near future to our custom area. If there is something more that you would like us to add in the future, just send us an email and let us know. support@asmartblonde.com.
Q) Is there a particular font size on your signs?
You lay it out exactly as you wish for it to appear and that is the exact size that will print! In other words, what you see/design/upload, is what you get.
Q) Will the printed product look exactly like the design proof colors displayed on my monitor?
Due to monitors being calibrated differently, some printed colors may not always match the colors displayed on your computer monitor. However, it should never be terribly off either. We do NOT change the colors that you have submitted. The file is printed EXACTLY the way that it is received. That said, we will NOT reprint an order free of charge due to color discrepancy. If you wish for us to reprint your order, we must charge you again in full and will require a better idea of the exact color you are intending.
Q) What kind of image should I use for a photograph?
If you're using a photograph, then you should use a good resolution JPG image. Try to find the highest quality image with a dpi of 300 or more.
Q) What kind of image should I use for a logo or clipart?
To use a logo, or some type image created by a graphics professional from solid lines and colors (specifically called 'vector art'), then EPS is the best choice. By using an EPS file in your design, you can retain the sharp lines in your original image, even if the file size you use is very small. If you do not have access to an EPS file, then PSD or PNG file formats will provide you with the next best print quality. Again, try to find the highest quality image with a file size of 300 dpi or better.
Q) Where can I get a high quality image for my design?
If the image you need is a logo for your company, then you will need to speak with the person who created the design. They will be able to create a file that will work for you. If you are looking for high quality photographic images, you may try using a search engine to find one of the many companies that provide royalty free photographic images. T
Q) How can I tell if my image is good?
One way to see the quality of your image is to open it in a image viewer by double clicking on your image and letting windows open it. Zoom in on the image, or enlarge it a great deal, and see if the image is very grainy. This is a good indication of a poor quality image. In general, it is good practice to find the highest quality image you can.
Q) Can I use your state background plates to replace my state issued plate (say for instance if i have lost one)?
NO! Our state backgrounds are novelty only. All states provide licensing, registration and the official state plates themselves for owners of vehicles in their states. Ours can however be used on the front of your vehicle if you live in a 1 plate required only state. Then, sure have fun with it! And of course like all license plates, they can be hung just about anywhere.
Q) Do you offer proofing and design assistance?
When your design comes to us, it should be ready to print. That said, we do see orders come thru where the image is not ready to print and to do so for us, would just be wrong. In this case, we will contact you for a better image. If you can provide this, we will rework your design for you free of charge. If you cannot provide a better image and our design staff is able to spend the time and rework it for you on their own without additional art, we will also let you know. In the latter case, however, we do have to implement art fees. Art fees cost $15 per rework. We will let you know of the additional fee and you will be able to make the decision whether or not to proceed with the order. Additionally, if you phone in an order and do not provide art, you will be charged $15 for the inital design and an additional $15 per revision.
Q) Do you have a product guarantee?
If your product contains a manufacturing defect, just bring it to our attention. We will make it right for you. Otherwise, all sales are final, as this is your design that we have created exactly as you have laid it out. And please remember that good artwork really does matter. Garbage In, is truly Garbage Out. And if your design comes to us in a manner that we think it cannot be printed looking good, we will let you know. We don’t want to send you something that doesn’t look good anymore than you want to receive it.
Q) How do I know that you received my order? Will I get a receipt?
Once you have submitted your order, you will receive an email with order confirmation. And then once your order ships, you will receive another email with tracking information, so that you know its been shipped. If your email doesn’t reach you, please check your spam and/or junk email folder.
